Skin whitening: truth or lie by Rubina Ratnakar

Skin whitening is a major concern of many women and even men in some countries. White skin is thought to be better than all the other skin colors. In some countries, this interest took the form of racism. On the skincare concern, people try various ways to lighten their skin color but do they really work? In this blog, Rubina Ratnakar tries to deduce whether skin whitening is a truth or a lie.

Many products and brands claim that they can whiten the skin but in reality, they cannot. A person’s skin tone can not be changed. It’s the way they are born and it’s what they have inherited.

Skin whitening and skin bleachings are very popular words and ways of making your skin brighter. Many chemicals are used in the form of cosmetics for this purpose. Some popular chemicals are hydroquinone, alpha hydroxy acid, and glutathione. If we talk about the traditional reagents used for skin whitening, they would be almost the same that are used these days.

There are many side effects of using these chemicals. When the skin is lightened with chemicals or medical practices, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun and any other condition it has to face daily.

Coming to the cosmetic creams that say that they can lighten the skin, it is a false claim. Your skin tone cannot change until very harsh chemical works on it.

If you are tanned or have sunburns, then you can use these products to get your original skin tone back.

One needs to understand that this concept of skin whitening is wrong and no one needs to whiten their skin in order to look good. Every skin color is unique and beautiful. This is a great concern in Asian countries and now they are also getting out of this racism.

Instead of skin whitening, you can look for ways to keep your skin healthy and glowing.
